Post Re: Video Games
I never finished Holy Magic Century (aka Quest 64 in the US) I think I found it too hard when I was young.

I also never understood why they gave it such a shitty name and lame box art in the US.

I rented that joint back in the day and didn't get anywhere. Never knew it was considerably less-gay in the UK, considering you guys usually get the shit-end of the stick when it comes to "better named games" (Lylat Wars?)

Anyways, I recently got a PS2 at the thrift store for $20. I've played through both God of War games, and am looking for suggestions. Anyone? This is my current "to get" list:

Shadow of the Colossus
Metal Gear Solid 3
Shin Megami Tensei series
Final Fantasy(s)

Skies of Arcadia legends was one of the few games that made owning a gamecube worth it.

I'll admit to playing Super Mario Sunshine on gamecube, but Super Mario 94 is the better game.

In my Dreamcast days, I played a lot of Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. Crazy Taxi, and Soul Caliber. Gooood tiiiiiimmmmes.

The library system in my city has started stocking video games. And me, being an employee of one such library, means I get first dibs. We've mostly got a bunch of shit right now, but I took out Battlefield: Bad Company and Dirt 2 just to kill some time. I am not having fun with Bad Company.

I never understood why libraries started carrying TV shows, video games, etc.. I understand that they want people to use the library but man it just seems like a big waste of money to me to be stocking those things.

INSIDER SCOOP: It's part of a [vain] attempt to rebrand the library as "cool", as "more than just books!". I've had to set up several displays that are intended to look like a "book store", not just a library. It's to try and reel in customers that wouldn't normally come in. And since the late fees (here, anyways) on DVDs and Games are $2 a day, we make it back fairly quickly. BUT ARE WE COOL YET?

I don't really mind that there are no towns. FF12 was considered to be one of the worst in the series and FF13 is pretty much the exact opposite of it yet people are now saying it's too big of a departure. Seriously, what gives? I have enough trust in them as game designers to make FF13 an entertaining game.

However, I really don't care about the game either. I may opt for Resonance of Fate instead.

Lately:

Alan Wake: sort of playing along for the loopy narrative, not bad.

Lost Planet 2: borrowed it from work, yes bad.

Final Fantasy XIII: still not sure about this, but I've stuck around long enough to get to that famed "open world" part. Not as bad as everyone thinks. Haters gonna hate.

Split/Second: fun. Solid. B+
