Alex’s Review of the 11/12/07 show in San Francisco, CA.
Circle Takes the Square, Portugal. The Man, and Thursday were the bands playing last night at a venue called Slims last night in San Francisco, CA. The show started at 8:00 pm with a packed house. CTTS was the first band up and opened with an amazing new song called The Ritual of Names (I believe that’s the name). I can honestly say that this was the start of the best show I have ever been to, by far. The new song was long, brutal, and everything anyone could ever hope for. In fact, I’m extremely tempted to say that it could be their best work yet. After The Ritual of Names they played (if I recall correctly) Same Shade as Concrete, Crowquill, A Crater to Cough In, Non-Objective Portrait of Karma, and finished with Interview at the Ruins. Every minute of each and every song was just simply amazing. The little twists they put on the songs while playing it live keeps it interesting even after having listened to the CD 12093871923 times. On top of seeing an awesome set I had the pleasure of meeting Drew, Kathy, and David. I can honestly say that they are some of the coolest, most down to earth, and nicest people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting. If you ever have the chance to make it out to one of their shows I HIGHLY recommend it; you won’t regret it.
